Jews in Orbit
It seems a good time to discuss “Jews in Orbit’ as Artemis has illuminated the NASA program.
While “Jews in Space“ is a famous comedy sketch by Mel Brooks, the real history of Jewish people in orbit includes over 20 astronauts and cosmonauts from several countries.
: A Soviet cosmonaut who became the first Jewish person in space in 1969. He was part of the first-ever docking of two crewed spacecraft.
: The first Jewish American and first Jewish woman in space. She flew on the maiden voyage of the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1984 but tragically died in the 1986 Challenger disaster.
Jeffrey Hoffman
: The first American Jewish man in space. He famously brought a small Torah scroll into orbit and performed the first Torah reading in space while passing over Jerusalem.
: The first Israeli astronaut, who flew on the Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003. He requested kosher food and brought a Holocaust-era Torah scroll with him; he died when the shuttle disintegrated during reentry.
: An American-Israeli astronaut who participated in the first all-female spacewalk in 2019.
: In 2022, he became the second Israeli in space and the first to visit the International Space Station.
Jews in Orbit celebrated many Jewish rituals:
Keeping Time: Since an orbiting spacecraft sees 16 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours, astronauts often keep Shabbat based on their mission control’s time (usually Houston or Cape Canaveral).
Ritual Items: Astronauts have brought specialized items, such as weighted tallitot (prayer shawls) to keep them from floating away and velcro-mounted mezuzahs for their bunks.
Food: While
Jeffrey Hoffman, famously left matzah behind to avoid “crumbs flying around the shuttle,”
Ilan Ramon
was the first to request and receive certified kosher space food.
Judith Resnik (STS-51-L): Died on January 28, 1986, when the Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrated 73 seconds after liftoff.
Ilan Ramon (STS-107): Died on February 1, 2003, when the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentry, killing all seven crew members. He was an Israeli Air Force combat pilot.
Both astronauts are recognized for their contributions to space exploration and their place in Jewish history.

My topic developed after I read several articles about our ‘first lady’, Melania Trump, discussed her non-involvement with the late Jeffrey Epstein
She posited that she had only met Mr Epstein socially on several social occasions.
I believed her, I wanted to believe her none-story. My philosophy is trust but verify.

My analysis takes us back to Melania’s immigration to the United States. The tale is intriguing.
The Melania Trump, Paoli Zampelli, Amanda Ungaro connection. Zampelli was married to Ungaro, they divorced and there was a custody fight over their one son.
In 2025, she was arrested in Miami for running an unlicensed cosmetic surgery clinic (specializing in Botox), fraud, and overstaying her visa. Later placed in ICE custody (at Paolo Zampolli's behest)[7] for three months, she requested of an immigration judge to be deported back to Brazil, where she had previous residency.[1] There is an ongoing custody dispute between Ungaro and Zampoli over their son.[2]. The couple attended the first Trump Inauguration, where they sat at Melania's table during dinner.[2
On 7 April 2026, a series of tweets emerged threatening legal action, etc., which had been sent in her name to Melania Trump in the first term of the Trump presidency.[9] The First Lady held a surprise press announcement the next day denying any ties with Epstein.[10].

This would APPEAR to be the “story” that Melania felt the need to get out in front of because as soon as she was done holding her bizarre, out-of-nowhere press conference, Ungaro UNLOADED on FLOTUS on Twitter/X with a string of posts that have since been removed. (thank God for screenshots!):
