They met at the Xerox machine, Professor Kariko and Drew Weisman, meeting at a xerox machine in the hallway of a Medical School building at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. That was 25 years ago. Their discovery of mRNA fermented and aged until it was used to manufacture vaccines for a 2019 pandemic.
