Unfinished business from Trump's first Presidential term
Congress recently interrogated the US Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.
DeJoy did not comport himself well. DeJoy fell back on “It’s my fault"‘ He blamed many others ranging from Congress to increasing cost and the wide range of delivery challenges. Rather than just resigning he sputtered his way through the interrogation. Perhaps we will hear from this obsolete bureaucrat that he resigned.
LATE BREAKING NEWS: Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced plans to resign from the USPS on Feb. 17. DeJoy's tenure, which began in 2020, was marked by controversy due to his political affiliations and fundraising activities.
DeJoy is the first postmaster general since 1992 without any previous experience in the USPS He was involved in fundraising and political activities and was clearly out of his element.
Previous Postmasters have also failed. It raises the question? Is the deep state so deeply embedded in the USPS that middlemen cannot initiate significant change and modernization? Perhaps the civil servant generous near life-long employment guarantees, lack of productivity goals and other generous federal benefits make current employees reticent to make important changes
